Woodinville Weekend GetAway

Woodinville Weekend GetAway

We planned, taste tested, walked and stayed to create the most magical Woodinville Weekend GetAway for you. There’s no need to stress over having to research or plan, we’ll be your tour guide! Woodinville is a short drive from Seattle and only 10 minutes off of I 405. You would never guess you were so close to the city as you look across the farmland and lavender fields and stroll between wine cellars, tasting rooms and restaurants. We planned this entire get away so you can simply pull up to The SOMM, park your car and get whisked away to a weekend of relaxing, leisurely tastings, pairings, concerts on the lawn and more. Here’s the full Woodinville Wine Weekend Tour with tips for what to try at each of the stops!

Start by Booking Your Stay at The SOMM

Every detail from the minute you drive up to the towers of wine barrels, down to the beautiful glassware tucked into your guest bath is intentional. The elegant yet cozy lobby welcomes you in and the hydration havens you stroll by in the hallway remind you to take a deep breath and simply relax. Every detail has been thoughtfully prepared for you. If time allows, stay for 2 nights so you can leisurely enjoy the Spa and Complimentary Wine Blending, plus a meal at Bin 47 or sunset at the Rooftop Restaurant called The Shed. Regardless of the weather there are cozy spots by the fire, or open air seating to enjoy warm summer nights. We’ll warn you, the cozy robes and incredibly comfortable beds, delicious coffee in beautiful stoneware mugs will make you want to take the mornings slow. Give yourself time to soak in all of the details. We enjoyed it all including breakfast at Bin 47. The Cauliflower Chiliquiles is beyond delicious, big enough to share and loaded with flavor. Don’t let the word cauliflower deter you, it’s so good. Then when you’re ready for a stroll.

Walk across the roundabout from The SOMM for a wine tasting at Cave B Cellars

This family owned Washington Winery has a relaxed tasting room with plenty of space outside in their open air and garden spaces, plus cozy seating inside for colder days. The Pink & Bubbly is such a fun way to begin your tasting. It’s light and not too sweet to kick things off. Be sure to ask to see the labels on the bottles, and for the server to tell you the story that unfolds on each of them. And then imagine yourself seated overlooking the Columbia Gorge where the grapes are grown. Cave B wines are smooth and delicious, easy for anyone to enjoy.

From CaveB, go for a short stroll Down the Walking Path to Fidelitas Wines

Another family owned winery, Fidelitas creates rich deep Bordeaux style wines sourced from the Red Mountain area of Washington. Be sure to order the Mediterranean Plate with the layered dip to enjoy as you savor the different wines. The Smoked Salmon Dip was another highlight enjoyed along with our tasting. The tasting plates are large enough to share. They’re such a fun compliment to the tasting. Washington state grows amazing Bordeaux grapes because the weather is perfect for keeping a balanced acidity, all of the beautiful hot Eastern Washington weather makes for delicious wine. If you visit Fidelitas on the weekends they offer a larger food selection, live music and more. Make sure to book a reservation to ensure a table is saved for you. They even have a lovely outdoor covered patio space for those of you bringing a pup. Click here to make your Reservation

From Fidelitas go for a short walk across the complex to DeLille Cellars

When you walk in the door the host will check you in and greet you with a glass of sparkling wine. Sip and enjoy as you find your reserved seats. If the weather allows, the Woodinville tasting room has a lovely outdoor seating area as well. But not too worry, the indoor seating is spacious with beautiful couches and chairs tucked into every corner. As you sip your first glass, be sure to order the charcuterie plate to nibble on as you enjoy the full tasting. The locally made cheeses and assortment of dips and spreads bring out even more flavor in each of the wines. We started with a taste of the Forget Me Not, it’s a fun sparkling wine, it was actually the first sparkling wine DeLille made. Then we moved on to the Red Willow Syrah with a smoked molasses flavor, which was the first Syrah from Washington State. I love tasting the wines side by side, don’t be afraid to ask your server for an extra glass so you can do the same. Click here to make your reservation.

I hope you saved room for Dinner, because just around the corner from DeLille Cellars is their Restaurant.

And this is why you need more time in Woodinville, there is just so much goodness to savor. We started our dinner with a Spicy Margarita - it really is spicy! I loved it. If you aren’t a fan of spicy go with the Watermelon Margarita. We sipped and enjoyed the cozy yet elegant space as they brought us the Burrata & Spek and Roasted Mushroom Toast appetizers. Both of these appetizers are layered with flavor and great to share.

But save room for the Wagyu Steak Frites, it is divine. The steak melts in your mouth right along with the wine infused butter and pomme frites it is served with. If you love Pasta, be sure to order the Dungeness Crab Pappardelle. It has a savory sweetness to the sauce and yet it isn’t too heavy. We loved how light and flavorful it was.

I hope you have time for dessert, or brought a few friends so you can share bites of everything. We sipped Espresso Martinis and finished our dinner with a Chai Spice Creme Brulee, Bread Pudding and Chocolate Caramel Cake. We fully admit to being completely and utterly full. There are just so many delicious dishes to try, bring friends, order everything and share! Click here to make your reservation.

And then, go for a slow stroll back to The SOMM, cozy up in that soft fluffy robe and dream the sweetest dreams because we have more goodness for you to enjoy in Woodinville!

If the weather allows go for a long Walk or Bike Ride on the Sammamish Trail that runs right by The SOMM ending your walk at Sparkman Cellars

Order a flight of your choice for your Wine Tasting and be sure to add on the Goat Cheese Dip and the Cheese & Charcuterie Board to make it a complete Lunch. Believe us when we say you will want to buy the Goat Cheese Dip to bring home with you, it is so delicious, and yet not to be outdone by the array of delightful cheeses served on the Charcuterie Board. Both of these dishes were such a fun addition to our tasting. We ordered a White Wine & Red Wine flight so we could sample everything. Sparkman Cellars serves them all together in small carafes so you can sip and taste side by side as you savor them at your own pace and in whatever order you would like. We loved this flight offering and had the biggest bonus that the Sparkman Team was actually processing grapes while we were there. We got to watch them sort and destem the grapes as they were getting ready to go into the next step to become wine. If the staff is able, they’re happy to show you around the cellar, just ask! And be sure you read your tasting sheet, it gives you fun ideas for food pairings with the wine and goes even further to suggest fun movies to watch as you sip and enjoy.

After a nice walk back to The SOMM and enjoying time in the local shops we finished our visit to Woodinville with a locally sourced Dinner at Heritage.

Chef Bre has created the most delicious menu filled with dishes that feel like you’ve been welcomed to her own table. They’re layered with flavor utilizing as much local produce, cheese and meat as possible, plated beautifully and yet make you feel at home. We started with the Wedge Salad topped with Steak. Don’t skip this salad, or adding the steak - it’s all topped with housemade blue cheese and maple glazed bacon. After the first bite you’ll agree with me, this is more than just a salad! Then we shared the Marsala Meatballs and Caramelized Sea Scallops. The sun was shining and we sat on the patio taking our time letting the scallops melt in our mouth and then dipping the meatballs into the savory sauce. What a treat to end our time at a table that feels so inviting.
