The Secret Trick to Get Peonies to Bloom Longer!
Did you know there’s a way to cut barely open Peony Buds and save them to bloom later!? Click on the video for the full How-To with all of the tricks. Flowers are smart, when you cut them at the right time they’ll have all of the goodness stored in them to bloom months later. Get your snips, pull out your plastic wrap and go cut some Peony Buds now so you can enjoy the blooms all summer and into fall!
Step 1 - Cut the bud when there is a little green but the petals are beginning to open, the bud will feel a bit soft like a marshmallow.
Step 2 - Remove all of the greenery
Step 3 - Wrap the entire flower from stem to bloom in plastic wrap. Make sure to have it all sealed - this holds all of the moisture in so the blooms do not dry out!
Step 4 - Store the blooms horizontal in the fridge until you’re ready to bring them out.
Once you’re ready to have them bloom:
Give the stem a fresh cut
Place in room temperature water
Give the bloom a couple days to hydrate and wake up! In about 3 days it will be opening!
