Summer Sunshine Grapefruit Mint Spritzer
photography by Jess Vallance @jrvallance
The sunshine is streaming in calling for big pitchers of the most beautiful Grapefruit Mint Spritzers. Garnish it with mint leaves and edible flower petals and you’ll be whisked away to a garden party in your own backyard. We served this as one of the spritzers at our Spring Market + Plant Sale and it was the clear favorite. It’s tart and sweet with a hint of mint and fizz. The golden blush color is perfect for all of the summer garden parties whether it’s just your fam or you’re inviting friends. Fill your table with the beauty of fancy sparkling spritzers.
If you want to use it as a cocktail mixer, simply leave out the sparkling water. Once you add your gin or vodka, top with sparkling water if needed. If you like your beverages lighter on flavor use less grapefruit juice and mint simple syrup. This is the beauty of creating your own spritzer, you get to mix it exactly how you like it!

Here’s how you make our all time favorite Grapefruit Mint Spritzer:
Grapefruit Mint Spritzer
1 (2-liter) of Orange Sparkling Water
4 cups Grapefruit Juice, fresh or purchase pure grapefruit juice in the juice aisle. Double check that there is no added sugar. You want it pure and tart!
2 1/2 cups Mint Simple Syrup, see recipe below
In a large carafe mix the grapefruit juice and mint simple syrup, then slowly pour in the sparkling water. Give it a gentle stir. The sparkling water LOVES to bubble over, so move slow.
Garnish with mint and edible flower petals like, violas or cornflower /bachelor buttons
Mint Simple Syrup Recipe:
2 cups water
2 cups granulated white sugar
10 stems of mint
Over medium heat, in a medium sized stock pot, bring the water and sugar to a gentle simmer. Once the sugar has mostly dissolved, throw in the mint (stems and mint leaves all together) and allow the mixture to gently simmer for a couple minutes. Then remove the pot from the heat. Cover and allow to cool.
Once it has cooled to room temperature, pour through a strainer to be sure to get all bits of mint leaves out of the syrup. It will fill a quart jar.
*this will make about 4 cups of simple syrup. It keeps for a month or more in the fridge and is delicious in mojitos, grapefruit mint spritzers, mint limeade, iced tea … truly anything you want a little sweet mint flavoring in!
