The Most Decadent Poppy Seed Bread with Orange Glaze

Print Friendly and PDF

You can call it bread or cake, breakfast or dessert but I know you’ll defintely call it a new family favorite. This Poppy Seed Bread is so light and airy but still has a richness to it that will make you want to slice it up to have with your morning coffee and then again after dinner as a treat. One bowl of batter makes 2 loaves which is always a win in my mind, or get mini loaf pans and you’ll be able to make 20 small loaves to share.

Orange Glazed Poppy Seed Loaves : makes 2 loaves

BREAD INGREDIENTS

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 ⅓ cup vegetable oil

  • 2 ¼ cups granulated sugar

  • 1 ½ cups milk

  • 1 ½  teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1 ½ teaspoons almond extract

  • 1 ½ teaspoons butter extract

  • 3 cups flour

  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt

  • 2 tablespoons poppy seeds

GLAZE

  • 1 orange juiced

  • 1 ⅓ + Powdered sugar

TO MAKE :

Preheat your ove to 350° and lightly grease 2 loaf pans.

In a large bowl beat the eggs, oil and sugar on High for 2 minutes. The mixture will get light and fluffy. Fold in the milk, vanilla, almond and butter extract. Then beat again on Low to fully incorporate.

Sift the baking powder into the flour, add in the salt and then add this dry mixture to the wet and beat on medium speed for a minute. Once fully incorporated add in the poppy seeds. Pour the batter evenly into your prepared loaf pans and bake for 50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.

Don’t be fooled by the thinnes of the batter, it rises and turns out so light, fluffy and decadent!

*If you’re filling mini loaf pans, fill them to 2/3 way full. The batter will rise and fill the pans so nicely. Mini loaf pans need approximately 25-30 minutes of baking.
