5 years ago I was sitting in a gathering, listening to the reality of sex trafficking. I could not help myself but think about the what if’s. What if it was me? What if it were our daughters? The magnitude of the evil can force our eyes away from the reality, but thankfully that night my heart was strong enough to see that we had to do something, anything to help.

As I was driving home I had a thought, ‘What if we invite our friends for dinner and ask them to pay for their seats?’ It felt a bit crazy. Who asks their friends to pay to eat at their house? I felt bold enough to ask because if it was my daughter being trafficked I would do anything and everything to save her - so we started there, with 1 invitation to a dinner in our backyard orchard.

Since that first dinner 5 years ago we have hosted over 500 people and donated over $35,000. These dinners have literally changed everything for the women and children we support through Rescue:Freedom Int., they have changed everything for our community and even more so for our family.

I know your table has the same power to give freedom and create community.

A dinner created and funded by your community of bakers, chefs, artists, florists, flower farmers, decorators, and dish washers all volunteering their time to create a magical evening for the guests.

Guests pay a ticket price for their seat to help offset the costs with ALL proceeds going to benefit Rescue:Freedom Int to aid in the fight against human trafficking.

Every piece of the dinner is unique to your community. With all of it giving freedom. Who knew that your flower beds and cutting boards, your love for setting pretty tables or creating hand lettered signs could give freedom to a woman trapped in a life she did not choose?!

These dinners are not about one person doing it all, they are about everyone doing what they do best. When we invite people to help in a way that they love creating, we give them a place to connect their heart to purpose.

Beyond the amazing impact these dinners have on the fight against human trafficking, they also have a profound effect on your community. Everyone is waiting for an invitation to find meaning and purpose in their everyday life. Everyone is waiting for an invitation to make a difference. When we openly invite our community to create a dinner together we are also opening the door for people to connect. And when we have a chance to do life together we realize we are not so different after all.

Our table has become a powerful tool to bring our community together, from all corners, from all walks, from all jobs and beliefs : and all in the name of freedom.

You betcha! These dinners might have started in our orchard but we're holding them out with an open invitation to you. To help you create your own, and we’ve got you covered.
